Desired effects: pain, itching, swelling, inflammation and redness in & around the area where the ointment is applied. These effects indicate the response of the patient to the venom. The more severe the reaction, but not anaphylaxis, the faster the recovery.

Non-desired effects: Allergic reaction and what to look for (but not limited to) itchiness and swelling in area's where the ointment has not been applied, and feeling’s of faintness or the appearance of a rash. Anaphylactic reactions which can be life threatening are reported from bee venom, but they are rare. If you have experienced an allergic reaction it is best to discontinue use and rest.
